I seriously can’t believe we’re in September already. Fall is just around the corner, although my allergies think it’s should be in full swing. I can’t wait for the gorgeous colors, like the ones int he images above taken last year. I have only a couple of available dates left this month, so if you’re thinking about getting your family portraits done, this is a good time to book your session. My holiday deadlines are as follow:
Sessions to take place by November 20, 2011
Orders must be in by December 4, 2011

I am also having one dedicated day for mini sessions on Sunday October 23, those are great if you only want a few photos of your immediate family, or some fun shots of your kids in their halloween outfits. See my “Mini Bug” under my investment to get details, and contact me to reserve your spot.

Next weekend is grandparents day, and if you are in a pinch for gift ideas, think about gifting them a session (or a mini session) with their grandkids! It’s a priceless gift for both I end this “PSA” post with a couple of my favorite great/grandparents/grandchildren photos!

Hard to believe summer is halfway over. I’ve been a busy bee between sessions, and making sure my kids have a summer full of adventure, exploring, and fun. We are heading out of town to visit family, and play in the sand, so please be patient if I can’t return your calls/message next week.

Merit Award :: Lexington photographer

Earlier this year, I finally mustered some courage (and made some time) to enter a photo in a contest that I learned about from a Chase Jarvis tweet. It sounded fun: photos taken and processed on a mobile phone. I use my phone ALL.THE.TIME. because my girls don’t complain as much about me capturing their everyday with it as opposed to my “work” camera. In a way, it forces me to stay in the moment, not worry about settings, and focus on composition and light, and just document what they are doing that given time. It’s easy to snap a couple, and put the phone away and go back to playing. But in the process, I have over 3000 snaps. I plan to print out little 5×5 books for them – how fun would those be to look over a few years from now! Before I digress, I got an email about a month ago saying one of my photos was a finalist. I was shocked, because of the sheer volume of high quality entries. And yesterday the winners were finally announced, and my photo received a merit award in the “people” category. It definitely brough a huge grin to my face!

I always advice my clients to keep clothing simple, and play with accessories (depending on their age, of course). I love the layered look, vibrant colors, but most importantly, the clothes should be comfortable and in your style.

So for inspiration here are some samples of what you can put together for your family/kids/maternity sessions – notice that they are not matchy-matchy, but work great together:

It’s been a crazy busy season, and it’s almost winding down. I am about 20 kids and 10 families behind on the blog – so I might never catch up on that. Clients – you’ll be getting your galleries right in time for my Nov 20th order deadline, so please do not delay if you want those prints & products as Christmas gifts.

I am planning some exciting changes for next year, and I am really thrilled about all the possibilities. I attended two AMAZING workshops, and I can’t wait to put some of what I learned into play. I am thinking of creative ways to be more green – so I’ll be incorporating that into my work flow, and my product line. My poor website galleries are in desperate need for updates, so you’ll have to excuse the dust while I clean those up.

Also be on the lookout for the end of year contest, and some really exciting events at the beginning of the year. I am going to end this year with a bang of newborns – and I can’t wait to meet them all. I promise to be better about blogging sneaks, so don’t give up on my blog

It’s been a busy couple of weeks, and I am just barely catching up before the next storm sweeps by. I am heading into my busy season, and my September is fully booked. So if you are thinking of fall/holiday session, now is the time to book. Holiday order deadline is November 20, last session for holiday delivery is November 8.

On to the new exciting products that I’ve added…

1. The first is the slideshow set to music, for viewing on your TV or computer. This is a great way for you to keep all the images for years to come, and it’s an economical option at only $150. They come in a nice case too!

2. You’ve asked for it – so here it is. A full digital package with every single edited image on DVD with reprint rights, so you can print as many copies as you want. It comes with easy to follow instructions, and lab suggestions. Priced at $950, it’s over $350 saving from a la carte prices. This comes in a gorgeous custom designed photo CD case like the one below:

3. A step down from the above, is the mini digital package, for $350, that includes 12 of your favorite images in high resolution with the rights to reprint. Also comes in the same custom designed photo CD case.

It’s been a great summer so far, and I just wanted to give you a heads up about a few things:
- We have a family vacation planned in July, so I will not be reachable between July 4-12. Please contact me before or after that time if you need anything.
- I am currently booking for end of July. As I have done in the past, I only take on a few sessions each month. I do lots of pre- and post- session work, and I want to make sure you get the best possible images and products. So if you are planning to have me photograph your babies, kids, teens, or family, please book your session soon. I hate to turn people down.
- I am always looking for great new products, so be on the lookout for another post in the near future about some new and exciting ways to get your prints.
- My husband has been working on revamping my website, so don’t be surprised when things look a bit different, and excuse any dust you might see while we iron out all the kinks.
